The Plan
Supporting Skateboarding and the City of Arlington
A Skatepark Advisory Committee (SPAC) was formed, which includes six members of CRI. In conjunction with the city, the SPAC, and CRI, a professional consultant has drafted a master plan. You can check it out here:
Funding
To address the lack of appropriate public facilities for action sports, the city approved a $500,000 allocation of a park bond program approved by voters in 2008. Funding or construction was to be made available in January 2012. Due to the economic climate, it’s more than likely the Skatepark project will be pushed back indefinitely.
CRI has stepped in to raise money, and following the city’s master plan, will begin construction of the first neighborhood skate facility. Once the skatepark is completed, it will be donated to the city. The support and contributions of the community are critical. We need your help to get rolling, and keep our kids safe! Keeping the Wheels Turning
CRI’s commitment to Arlington youth extends beyond the building of the skatepark system. Though it is our primary goal, we recognize continued involvement is essential to long-term success. CRI will continue to raise funds to:
- Subsidize skate camps and clinics to encourage and teach skating skills
- Promote safe skate practices and a healthy, active lifestyle
- Sponsor local children that may not be able to afford equipment
